Morgan Platts is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist living and working in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts with a BFA in Painting in 2020 and is a co-creator of The Basement Collective. Her practice mainly consists of painting, although she frequently ventures into different media such as installation, sculpture, digital work and video.
Working with ideas surrounding old vs. new, cut and paste, and digital vs. physical, Morgan’s work expresses the idea that the digital landscape we have formed around us is a fleeting yet simultaneously persisting space that is ever changing. Through adopting digital drawing techniques, images and specific digital iconography using paint, mylar, wood, inkjet prints and found objects, her work aims to make the digital tangible. |
